Sometimes the standard store-bought gift won’t do. Delight them with a handmade gift for home.

Every Christmas there is someone on my list that I don’t exactly know their tastes. You know, that person that leaves you stumped with what to gift them? It might be a teacher, a dance teacher, or coach… and while I want to be thoughtful in my gift-giving approach for these important people in our community, I always struggle to come up with an idea that is useful and doesn’t look like a last-minute grab.

So, I started getting a little creative with a homemade gift for them. I came up with an idea I keep coming back to–these cute Spiced Simmer Pots!

These Spiced Simmer Pots were perfect for gift-giving for our teachers. They are simple to create and have a stunning ‘wow’ factor. I even created a printable card with instructions. And I personalized each bundle with a gift card on top.

With a blink and a nod–I crossed these little holiday gifts right off my list.

This homemade cleaning solution is simple, stress-free, and works great for those daily cleanups.

Streak-free cleaning products that are gentle on my home are a must. This cleaning solution recipe can be customized to your own scent preference by adding a few drops of your own essential oils.

Using refillable bottles is a great way to care for the environment too! If you are looking for a creative way to get this look – grab your own spray trigger tops, and soap dispensers (like these ones found on Amazon).

I add these ingredients directly to my refillable bottle, seal the top, and give it a gentle shake.

Over the years, products change. It can be super frustrating to fall in love with a simple cleaning product that is no longer easily found. Rather than search high and low and spend money on pricey products, do yourself a favor and bookmark this recipe to make your own cleaning solution for pennies on the dollar.

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart warm water
  • 1 tsp liquid dish soap
  • 1 tsp Borax
  • 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 2-3 drops essential oil (optional)

Staying intentional in this season of hustle + bustle is no easy task. Over the years, we have curated this family advent activity to help us to stay focused on spending time together over the holiday season.

Elf on the shelf? Secret Santa? Shopping? Shopping? Shopping? There are so many boxes to check in this season, it can be easy to lose your ground in the midst of it all. In our family, we have found that what goes on the calendar first is most likely to happen. And so, we make time each day for a fun family activity together.

Each day our kids look forward to opening the box to see what activity is tucked inside (and of course they love the treats too).

This diy advent activity keeps us caroling, sharing memories over dessert, playing a quick game of family charades, and even encourages us to grab a cup of coffee, go ice skating, or play in the snow together. The printable version is my gift to your family this season. Enjoy!

The invites were printed and never cut – that is how close we were to hosting a modified version of this event in our home. Flexibility is so hard – but we are working on it. We are learning to embrace the changes quickly. Pivoting as fast as possible gives us margin to consider new + creative ways to make this season good.
